Scopas Tang

The Scopas Tang looks very similar to the Yellow Tang with the exception that it is mainly brown in color. Scopas Tangs can range in color from dark brown to almost black, with a mixture of yellow and white thrown in. Juveniles have very high metabolisms and must feed throughout the day. This fish benefits from larger aquariums with an abundance of rock from which to pick algae off of. This fish will graze on algae all day. This is a very inquisitive fish. Scopas Tangs adapt well to high quality flake foods and packaged algae sheets. The Scopas Tang will need plenty of room to swim around in and care must be taken as they can become very territorial.

Compatibility	Peaceful for the most part but will become territorial of it's hiding place. Aggressive to others of it's own kind and other Tangs in general.

Diet	Herbivore, algae, dried seaweed and marine flakes
Reef Suitability	Excellent.
Sexing	Difficult
Breeding	It's very unlikely that you will get Scopas Tangs to reproduce in a home aquarium
Difficulty Level	4 on a 1 to 10 (10 being the most difficult) scale. Good choice for a larger reef tank as the Scopas Tang needs a wealth of algae to stay healthy and well fed.
